Universal Denies Rumors Of Snoop Dogg & Tupac-centric Sequel To "Straight Outta Compton"
Despite Daz Dillinger's claims, Universal says there are no plans to make an official sequel to "Straight Outta Compton."
With the introduction of a few familiar faces in the film's final third, it seemed inevitable that Straight Outta Compton would spawn some sort of spin-off that followed the likes of Snoop Dogg and Tupac.
This hunch was seemingly confirmed yesterday when Daz Dillinger spoke directly to TMZ, suggesting a proper sequel to the popular film was already planned, and would follow, Snoop, The Dogg Pound, and 2pac's careers.
While we wanted to believe the news, it seems even if there is some truth to it, it certainly won't be a part of the Straight Outta Compton universe.
“At this time there are no plans for a Straight Outta Compton sequel,” Universal told Entertainment Weekly. The publication also reached out to Ice Cube, who confirmed that he had not given the green light to any type of subsequent film. Strangely, Daz's report explicitly said that Cube was behind the idea.
We're sure this won't be the end of the discussion, and judging by the success of the film, some similar projects are bound to pop up either way.
