Bobby Shmurda Pleads Not Guilty To Weapons Charges
Bobby Shmurda pleads not guilty for his role in the Rikers Island shank incident.
Bobby Shmurda pled not guilty Thursday to felony and misdemeanor charges of promoting prison contraband, perjury, and criminal possession of a weapon, according to a report from the New York Times.
On June 21, Shmurda's girlfriend Kimberly Rosseau paid him a visit at Rikers Island with a shank hidden in her bra. A guard noticed her attempt to pass him the object, wrapped in black electrical tape, and the both of them were subsequently arrested. Though she pled guilty to her charges, Shmurda is going the opposite route. The perjury portion of his charges are on account of the prosecution accusing him of lying to the grand jury regarding the case.
Rosseau's next hearing is scheduled for August. Shmurda's next hearing is scheduled for October. If convicted, he could face as many as seven years in prison.
