Young Thug Earns First Platinum Single With "Best Friend"
Young Thug's gets his first platinum single with "Best Friend," which was officially released last November.
By now, Young Thug has undeniably solidified his position within rap's top-tier. And he hasn't yet released his debut album, though some of his mixtapes have been put out for commercial release. Those tapes contained at least a few hits each, though surprisingly, Thug had never released a platinum single until just now, as the RIAA has now confirmed that his Slime Season track "Best Friend" has moved 1,000,000 copies.
"Best Friend" was released on September 14 of last year as a video -- one of the more memorable visuals in recent memory, shot by Thug's go-to director Be El Be -- and the track appeared on Slime Season a couple of days later. It was released as a single on November 20. The track is produced by Behind the Beat alumni Ricky Racks as well as Yung Shad.
The only other platinum single that Thug has been a part of is "Lifestyle," a collaboration with Rich Homie Quan and Birdman (barely) that they released as Rich Gang.
Congrats to Thugger and everyone involved with "Best Friend."
