Full List Of Winners From The 2016 BET Awards

The 2016 BET Awards are underway! Check here throughout the night for live updates of tonight's ceremony. After this year's Grammys, when T. Swift's 1989 won Album of the Year over To Pimp a Butterfly, we were weary of any more award shows, and indeed, the few big ones that followed were, for the most part, drawn-out and overhyped celebrations of radio fluff. But tonight's event, the BET Awards, is different. The show is meant to honor all the best work that black entertainment has to offer, and that means our beloved genres of hip-hop and R&B will actually be taken seriously. And the performances are key, too; the live music will come not from Meghan Trainor but artists like Future, Young Thug, Desiigner, French Montana, Erykah Badu, and Remy Ma. There will also be a performance in honor of one of the most important artists of our time, Prince, who we lost earlier this year. A supergroup made up of D'Angelo, Sheila E., Stevie Wonder, Janelle Monae, and The Roots will be responsible for the tribute performance. Tonight's show is hosted by Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross. Two awards were given out prior to the ceremony -- The Lifetime Achievement Award to Samuel L. Jackson and the Humanitarian Award to Jesse Williams. Head to BET.com for a few different live feeds into tonight's show at the Microsoft Theater in LA. It starts NOW! See the full list of awards and nominees below, and keep it locked here to keep up with the winners as they are announced. Taylor Swift Rumored To Be "Horrified" By Kanye West's "Famous" Video

A "source close to Taylor" spoke to HollywoodLife about the singer's reaction to the video. Kanye West's "Famous" video has been the big conversation piece of the weekend, but so far, we haven't heard directly from any of the many stars depicted in the controversial video (save for Chris Brown, who seemed weirded out, but mostly ok with his inclusion). Given their turbulent history, Taylor Swift's reaction is the one people seem to be waiting on, and while she has yet to comment directly on the video, HollywoodLife has reported that the singer is less than pleased with her depiction in the clip, citing an anonymous source on the matter. “Taylor is livid. Taylor is horrified [by the ‘Famous’ music video]. Taylor didn’t know what to do when she heard about what Kanye did,” reads the quote supplied to the gossip site. “She is bewildered, feels betrayed and is beyond frustrated with Kanye. It is like a complete nightmare. Taylor is pissed to say the least!” Of course, these anonymous sources can't always be trusted, but it doesn't seem hard to believe that Swift would feel this way. Regardless, she will surely make some kind of official statement soon enough.

Rihanna Teases "Sledgehammer" Single On Instagram

RiRi is about to share a new record from the upcoming Star Trek Beyond soundtrack. Rihanna's having a pretty phenomenal 2016, with a number 1 single and a double platinum album already under her belt halfway through the year. With that being said, things aren't slowing down just yet, as the ANTI singer has just announced a brand new single that it seems will be premiering on Monday, June 27th. RiRi shared news of the single through her Instagram account, sharing a teaser for "Sledgehammer," a song which will appear on the upcoming soundtrack to Star Trek Beyond. While there is some music featured in the clip, it seems most likely that its simply a piece of the film's score, in which case fans will just have to wait until tomorrow to see what Rihanna has in store for them. According ti Rih's tweet, it'll be arriving at 8AM EST, so set your alarms!

Meek Mill, The Game & More React To Murder Of Lor Scoota

Lor Scoota was killed shortly after hosting a charity event in his hometown of Baltimore. At age 23, he had emerged as one of the few Bmore rappers with a chance of making it out. Yet another inspiring young artist has been taken too soon. Yesterday (June 25) at around 7PM, 23-year-old Tyriece Watson, aka Lor Scoota, was fatally shot while driving in his hometown of Baltimore. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 8:30PM. Just minutes before the shooting, Scoota had been at Morgan State University, where he hosted a charity basketball event called "Touch the People: Pray for Peace In These Streets." Admittedly, I was not aware of Scoota's music, though going off the many posthumous essays and tributes that have already been written in his honor, it seems like he was one of the most popular rappers in Baltimore, a city that rarely gets any industry attention. Because of the city's isolation -- countered with his impoverished upbringing, Scoota was forced to build a sound and movement from the ground up. Everything about his music was reflective of his hometown -- the place that, tragically, ended up taking his life. Scoota was most known for his 2014 hit "Bird Flu" and its accompanying dance. He enlisted DMV rapper Shy Glizzy for the "Bird Flu" remix, which has accumulated almost 2 million plays on SoundCloud. He is credited as being one of the first artists to bring the dance-ready sounds of Baltimore club music into street-oriented hip-hop, an approach that has been taken by rappers like Tate Kobang, perhaps Baltimore's leading rap artist at the moment. T.J. Smith, the chief spokesman for the Baltimore Police Department, remarked that there is an "eerie irony" about the timing of Scoota's killing "that should just absolutely tick us all off." As mentioned, Scoota was targeted just after he had led a rally for peace. "There are many that are going to scrutinize the lyrics in his songs and some of the activity he might've been involved in in the past, but the reality is he's a victim, and there's a murderer on the street," Smith said. "A lot of young people knew him and looked up to him, and whatever he might've been doing in the past, it appears he was doing some things to change his life and use those experiences to help empower other young people in our city of Baltimore." Many well-known rappers, including Meek Mill, The Game, Tate Kobang, Shy Glizzy, and Yo Gotti, have gone on social media to pay their respects to Scoota and express their grievances, as have former Ravens WR Torrey Smith and Baltimore-hailing Nuggets guard Will Barton.

Producers On ScHoolboy Q's "Blank Face LP" Include Metro Boomin, Tyler The Creator, Alchemist & More

Here's a tentative list of the producers who have contributed to ScHoolboy Q's "Blank Face LP." They include Sounwave, Alchemist, Metro Boomin, Tyler, The Creator, and even Kendrick Lamar. The excitement surrounding ScHoolboy Q's upcoming album, the Blank Face LP, is steadily increasing with each day. Today, two weeks before the album's release, Q shared part 1 of a short film entitled "By Any Means." The clip also serves as the music video to the Blank Face LP track of the same name. Yesterday, Q shared the album's tracklist as well as its features. There's no Kendrick or Ab-Soul, but the impressive guest list includes names like Vince Staples, E-40, Tha Dogg Pound, and more. As the album has now been made available for pre-order, a KTT user was able to locate some of the names found in the composer credits for each individual track. The list isn't definitive just yet, but with a quick glance, one can see that Q has recruited the very best for the production side of his fourth album. The producers that appear most frequently are Tae Beast, Sounwave, Cardo, and Nez & Rio. Elsewhere, Metro Boomin and Southside team up for "Dope Dealer," which features E-40, and Tyler, The Creator reappears as a producer (after Oxymoron's "The Purge") for Tha Dogg Pound-featuring "Big Body." As of now, it's difficult to judge the extent of each artist's contributions, especially as Tupac is credited on "Str8 Ballin"; of course, that one is likely influenced by the Pac track of the same name. And though Kendrick wasn't listed as a featured artist, he is credited next to Cardo as a composer on "Overtime." Check out the updated tracklist, featuring a (likely incomplete) list of the Blank Face LP's producers, below. 1. TorcH (prod. by Nez & Rio) 2. Lord Have Mercy (prod. by Swizz Beatz) 3. THat Part (feat. Kanye West) (prod. by Cardo) 4. Groovy Tony / Eddie Kane (feat. Jadakiss) (prod. by Tae Beast & Dem Jointz) 5. Kno Ya Wrong (feat. Lance Skiiiwalker) (prod. by The Alchemist) 6. Ride Out (feat. Vince Staples) (prod. by Sounwave) 7. WHateva You Want (feat. Candice Pillay) (prod. by Tae Beast) 8. By Any Means (prod. by Cardo) 9. Dope Dealer (feat. E-40) (prod. by Metro Boomin & Southside) 10. JoHn Muir (prod. by Sounwave & Adrian Younge) 11. Big Body (feat. Tha Dogg Pound) (prod. by Tyler, The Creator) 12. Neva CHange (feat. SZA) (prod. by DJ Dahi) 13. Str8 Ballin (prod. by Nez & Rio) (*Tupac also credited) 14. Black THougHts (prod. by Willie B) 15. Blank Face (feat. Anderson .Paak) (prod. by Sounwave & T. Russell) 16. Overtime (feat. Miguel & Justine Skye) (prod. by Cardo & Kendrick Lamar) 17. Tookie Knows II (feat. Traffic & TF) (prod. by Nez & Rio)

The Plug & Z aka Zeus Interview

What kind of influences did you have growing up that helped shape your musical tastes? Well I was born in Nashville TN. We call it the ville and I was raised in Lebanon aka L town. A lot of days after school I would go to my grandma’s house off of stokes street between all the projects. I actually lived there and a road close called bluebird. During those times because I was close to my grandparents I was listening to a lot of blues, while my mom loved gospel! I was real open minded so I listened to anything that sounded good since my taste was already so blended at that point I had learned to find something I liked about all genre’s! So I like to think that’s why I’ve found my own sound because my influences come from music and not hip hop specifically. What do you think about the current state of hip hop? I think hip hop is in a good state there’s a lot of artist out their killing it and not only that but we had a hip hop artist break number 1# over artist like Beyoncé & Adele so I think the people are perceptive to what’s happening in hip hop! Who would you say is the most influential person in your musical career? I wouldn’t necessarily say one person but my family and my team definitely, “With great power comes great responsibility” ya feel me so I got to make sure we all eating because their futures are dependent on it. What kind of experiences do you think help mold you into the artist you are today? Growing up with my friends, I can remember writing rhymes in high school because I was bored and loved writing. Me and my friends would go to parties turn up and create fun memories. Definitely going to church with my mom on Sundays and hearing the church sing songs, I always use to love that. What do you think is your best song from “Ordained”? I think every song on “Ordained” are definitely equally good but if I had to pick one of my favorites probably “Swish” Or “Powder”. The energy that I had when I was riding those waves were really raw and I was really feeling the outcome! What can we come to expect in the next 3 to 6 months? I’m actually preparing to drop another mixtape on all major , platforms the name I’m gonna keep that on lock for the moment but in my opinion it’s better with “Ordained” so I’m hoping people feel it! I got a video that’s about to drop here soon! We’ve been hearing a lot about the deals that OV has been signing in the recent months through other blog outlets and we want to know who you’ve signed with and their credentials? Well some of the deals I can’t talk about to much but one of the deals I’ve signed is with “Awesome 2”, they’ve worked with Diddy, Mary j Blige, Busta rhymes, and a lot of other major artist and BET named them #19 of the most influential artist so we definitely got some big things poppin over here!

Future Announces Project “E.T.” With DJ Esco; Reveals Cover Art

Future announces new mixtape with DJ Esco called "E.T." Future has been teasing us on Twitter over the past couple days that a project was nearing, and thankfully he wasn’t lying. On Thursday night, the Freebandz Gang leader decided to announce to his followers that he has a new mixtape on the way with DJ Esco called E.T., which stands for "Esco Terrestrial". Unfortunately, he didn’t reveal any further information, other than its artwork, but if his tweet from the other day is any inclination of what’s to come, then Future says he “maybe a lil too disrespectful on this one,” but “fuck it. Y’all deserve it.” Peep the artwork below, and keep your eyes peeled for further information. Who's excited for some new Future?

Vic Mensa & Usher are joining Scooter Braun's management team. Scooter Braun’s management roster just got a whole lot stronger this week. Barack Obama Is Reportedly Interested In Owning An NBA Team After His Presidency

Obama needs to bring the Supersonics back to Seattle. Barack Obama's run as President of the United States is coming to a close and his next move might be as the owner of an NBA franchise. According to White House press secretary Josh Earnest, Obama is intrigued by the possibility of owning a team and has discussed the idea of joining an NBA franchise's ownership group, under the right circumstances. Last November, POTUS spoke with Bill Simmons in an article for GQ where he addressed this very situation. When asked if he would ever want to own a team, he said "absolutely" and added, "I have fantasized about being able to put together a team and how much fun that would be. I think it’d be terrific." We all know President Obama is a diehard Bulls fan but if he really wants to serve the people of the United States he'll team up with an ownership group and bring the Supersonics back to Seattle.

Gucci Mane Addresses Conspiracy Theory That He's A Government Clone

Gucci Mane has responded to the conspiracy theory that he's a government clone. It’s safe to say that Gucci Mane has seen a transformation for the better while being incarcerated over the past couple years. He’s lost his belly, gained a 6-pack of abs, and changed his vocabulary entirely all while being locked up. But that’s not all that’s different with ATL legend, Gucci’s infamous “ice cream cone” tattoo on his face appears to be gone as well, or really well hidden anyways, and it’s got people making some wild accusations because of it. There’s an actual conspiracy going around on the internet that the government has cloned Gucci and who we are seeing now isn’t the real Guwop.

Zaytoven And Future Are Sitting On "At Least 100 Songs"

Zaytoven and Future have been cooking. This summer could shape up to be a big one for Zaytoven. The prolific Atlanta beatmaker has been logging long hours with the recently-freed Gucci Mane. He and Future have been teasing Beast Mode 2 on Instagram, and in his new #BehindTheBeat interview with HNHH, he provided information that the long-awaited sequel mixtape may be near on the horizon. “Ever since [Beast Mode], we’ve recorded numerous times," Zay said. "Every time we go in the studio, we’re gonna do five, ten songs together. But we got, I know, at least 100 songs.” 100 songs! At least!! It's a massive figure, although not too surprising given Future's output over the course of the last two years. It supports Southside's assertion that Future is sitting on "six albums and three mixtapes" as of last November. Another fascinating tidbit from the interview: Zaytoven mentioned that he hadn't spoken to Future in three years prior to Beast Mode because Future spent so much time in Los Angeles. Future reached out during the first week of 2015 and they made the tape in 10 days.

Big Sean Donates $25,000 To Wayne State University Homelessness Program

Big Sean donates $25,000 toward an initiative to end homelessness at Wayne State University. As he's settled into superstardom, Big Sean has made a constant effort to give back to his hometown of Detroit. Last year, he founded his Detroit-based nonprofit, the Sean Anderson Foundation, designed to help the disadvantaged youth of his city with initiatives in the realms of education, healthcare, and the arts. Through his foundation, he was recently able to donate a sum of $25,000 to Wayne State University, located in the Midtown district, for its Helping Individuals Go Higher (HIGH) program, which is devoted to eliminating college student homelessness. According to his foundation's website, Sean's donation will "provide short-term support to Wayne State students experiencing homelessness or precarious housing situations." "With this gift, we will be able to help Wayne State students who are experiencing homelessness work toward a better future," said HIGH founder Jacqueline Wilson. Sean's contribution to Wayne State is not the only recent charitable work that has earned him attention. He donated $82,000 during the height of the crisis in Flint in order to help children who had been poisoned by the city's water supply, and last year, he teamed with adidas Originals to build a recording studio at Cass Technical High School, his alma mater.

Rihanna Takes Jab At Steph Curry Following Game 7

Rihanna throws salt in the Warriors' wounds. Stephen Curry and the Warriors were hearing it from everyone last night after failing to close out the series on their home court, and allowing the Cavs to recover from a 3-1 series deficit. Even Rihanna was trolling the league MVP, taking numerous jabs at Curry via instagram while lauding LeBron's greatness. Steph was not himself throughout the entire series and he came up small in the crucial Game 7, scoring just 17 points on 6/19 shooting and turning the ball over four times. On the other hand, LeBron was an absolute beast, capping off a remarkable NBA Finals run with a 27 point, 11 assists, 11 rebounds triple double, including three blocks- one of which came against Steph, again. Following the Warriors loss, Rihanna was there to throw salt in the Curry family's wounds. Also, Savannah James better watch her mans.

J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League Claims Chance The Rapper Never Paid Them For Beats

"Ranting" on twitter Thursday afternoon, J.U.S.T.I.C.E League claims they never received payment from Chance The Rapper for their work. It appears Flying Lotus’ comments yesterday about producer’s rights have inspired another production clique to speak up as well. Earlier today, J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League took to their twitter accounts to voice their frustration at the music industry, even calling out famed independent rapper Chance The Rapper in the process. Unclear of which of the three members actually tweeted it (Rook, Colione or Bart), J.U.S.T.I.C.E League went a “rant” Thursday afternoon calling out artists for not wanting to pay the right amount of fees & giving due credit, specifically Chance The Rapper. Then when producers, Nascent & Jake One responded to the tweet, J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League made it clear that they’ve actually never been paid for their work by the Chicago rapper. “Good to hear, we still waiting,” a response to Nascent read. “idk if u did or not. Hopefully lol. But I know on OUR end what happened,” the League wrote in another at Jake One (see below). Adding to it all, J.U.S.T.I.C.E. later touched on the new streaming services, which they say doesn’t pay out royalties, as well as racism in the industry, calling out record labels for giving “white artists trips to Monaco, and black artist’s bottles of Hennessy and weed.”

Projected #1 Pick, Ben Simmons, Declines Invitation To The Sixers Pre-Draft Workout

Thanks, but no thanks. Ben Simmons will surely be selected #1 overall by the Philadelphia Sixers at the NBA Draft on June 23rd, but the former LSU forward has declined the teams invite to a pre-draft workout. It's worth noting, he won't be working out for the Lakers, or Celtics, or any of the other lottery teams either. Despite Simmons' refusal to workout, the team's new President, Bryan Colangelo, insists that won't prevent them from selecting him a week from today. "Everything that we get with our intel as it relates to Ben is that he would very much like to be selected No. 1,'' Colangelo said. "His agent has decided that is the process they are undertaking," said Colangelo. "Why don't you call [Simmons' agent] Rich Paul and ask him. It has nothing to do with us and nothing to do with Philadelphia. Everybody goes about it a little differently. Sometimes players decide to work out, sometimes they decide not to work out." Trust "the process." On the flip side, the consensus #2 overall pick, Brandon Ingram, has already met many of the Sixers players during his workout including Joel Embiid and Jahlil Okafor, and he has also had lunch with the Sixers head coach, Brett Brown. It's highly unlikely Simmons' refusal to workout for the Sixers will cost himself the #1 overall pick but this definitely isn't an ideal situation for the Philly faithful. When asked whether he thought the team would pick Ingram over Simmons, Colangelo said, "It changes every day."

Drake & Kendrick Lamar's "Beef" Nearly Escalated To 50 Cent & Ja Rule Proportions, According To Marcellus Wiley

The former NFL player suggests an interview that would have increased tension between the two rappers was destroyed. Ever since Drake was mentioned in Kendrick Lamar's "Control" verse, there has been speculation of a tension between the two rappers. While Drake did seem to be a bit offended by the namedrop on Kendrick's record, the proposed bad blood between the two rappers has depended on the assumption of a number of "subliminal" disses and no concrete evidence. However, according to a new report from former NFL player and current ESPN host, Marcellus Wiley, the beef was very real, and came close to escalating exponentially due to an interview which was never aired. “All I know is there was a beef, and all I know is I was witness to when the beef would have ignited to proportions we have not seen since Ja Rule/50, maybe even Ice Cube/N.W.A," the host said on an episode of his ESPN podcast, not specifying which side the alleged diss came from. "Like it went there. But that was destroyed from everyone’s property. That was destroyed, that interview, that moment was destroyed. That’s all I’m gonna say. But I was there and I heard the shots fired." Wiley attests that what he heard came from only one of the two rappers, but he feels it would have been enough to inspire a full-fledged beef. "It was one-sided, and the other side was about to retaliate if that would’ve got out, but they destroyed the evidence. And I ain’t lying," he said.

Two days after having a couple seizure attacks, Lil Wayne put on a surprise performance at E3 convention in LA. Well that was quick. Just a day after leaving the hospital following two seizure attacks, Lil Wayne decided to make a surprise appearance at the E3 Expo convention in Los Angeles on Wednesday (June 15) where he took the stage to perform! Rocking his new-dyed dreads, Tunechi, who looked to be 100% healthy, took over the Samsung stage on Wednesday and performed several hits from his extensive catalogue, including “Go DJ,” “Truffle Butter,” and “A Milli” to name a few. The appearances was in support & promotion of his newly-released “Sqvad Up” mobile game, which is now available on Google Play & iTunes.
