Usher & Vic Mensa Sign With Scooter Braun For Management

Vic Mensa & Usher are joining Scooter Braun's management team. Scooter Braun’s management roster just got a whole lot stronger this week. According to Billboard, Save Money rapper Vic Mensa & ATL legend Usher have both signed new management deals with SB Projects, bka Brauns's company. Vic & Usher will join a roster already consisting of some the biggest names in the music business, most notably Justin Bieber & Kanye West, as well as Tori Kelly, Carly Rae Jepsen, Martin Garrix, and the Black Eyed Peas, among others. Braun had managed Ariana Grande up until February of 2016 when the two went their separate ways, but he was still credited for her latest album release Dangerous Woman, which is currently slaying the airwaves & pop charts. “I’ve always been in the Scooter family,” when asked to confirm his signing after appearing on a panel with Ryan Seacrest at Cannes this week. “We actually have worked together on artists, and worked together in business. So it’s just a continuum.” Vic Mensa, who is signed to Roc Nation, will be co-managed by Braun and Cody Kazarian. His long awaited debut album, Traffic, is on the way. Meanwhile, Usher's eighth studio album, Flawed, is expected to arrive later this year.

Gorillaz Hit The Studio With Vic Mensa

Damon Albarn's right hand man Remi Kabaka shared a picture of Vic Mensa in the studio. Vic Mensa has performed with the Gorillaz on a handful of occasions. He handled Del the Funky Homosapien's duties on Gorillaz mega-hit "Clint Eastwood" during a 2014 performance at Governor's Ball. Shortly thereafter, he expressed a desire to get in the studio with Gorillaz mastermind Damon Albarn. It looks his wishes are being fulfilled. Remi Kabaka, otherwise known as the voice of Gorillaz fictional drummer Russel Hobbs, posted an Instagram picture of someone who looks suspiciously like Vic Mensa in the studio last night. According to Reddit user u/JordanPowers95, Kabaka initially tagged Mensa then removed the tag, which would imply that the band is trying to keep the collaboration on the low.

Kanye West releases the updated version of "Wolves" featuring Vic Mensa & Sia. Staying true to his word, Kanye West just released a new updated version of “Wolves” tonight on TIDAL featuring Vic Mensa & Sia, who were on the original version we first heard at the Yeezy 2 fashion show. The Frank Ocean outro has now been added as a separate track entirely on The Life Of Pablo simply dubbed “Frank’s Track.” As for the highly anticipated Drake version we’re still waiting for, that’s anyones guess, but lets hope it’ll still sees the light of day someday. For what it's worth, "Wolves" isn't the first record to be re-worked on either. Just the other day, Kanye fixed "Famous" on Tidal, switching up a couple lines and vocals from Rihanna.

Vic Mensa Says Kanye West Is "Carrying The Spirit Of Rock & Roll"

Vic Mensa talks about his Roc Nation signing, rapper jewelry, and Kanye West's rockstar spirit. Vic Mensa has earned some very important co-signs over short time, as well as landing himself a deal with Roc Nation, but according to the rapper, he wasn't seeking out any of it. In a new interview with the Guardian, Vic reveals that his outlook on his music has always been independent-minded, before commenting on the fakeness of rapper's jewelry, and Oasis' disapproval for Kanye Wests's headlining set at Glastonbury. On signing to Roc Nation: I wasn’t looking to get signed. I’d been doing my own thing, and making my own money; I wasn’t built by a record label or the music industry, nor was I built by prominent artists that have given me co-signs... I mean, whatever. Those guys are legends, but also dickheads. Ultimate dickheads. I saw they were mad Kanye played Glastonbury. They were mad when Jay Z played too. Feels very racist to me. They’re gonna say: ‘No it’s not about race, it’s about guitar music, it’s about rock’n’roll’, but I mean like, how many people do you feel are carrying the spirit of rock’n’roll in 2015? Would you not say that Yeezus, and a song like Black Skinhead, is carrying the spirit of rock’n’roll? I can’t understand how that’s not fucking rock’n’roll.
