T.I. No Longer With Columbia Records
T.I. has "exited his deal with Columbia Records."
Last weekend, T.I. surprised fans with a brand new 5-track EP out of the blue titled Da Nic’. However, what most of us failed to notice was it was released independently through Empire Distribution because Tip is no longer a member of Columbia Records, the home of his latest album Paperwork.
Speaking with HitsDoubleDaily in a recent interview, Tip confirmed his departure from Columbia and said he’s currently looking for his next move. He says,
"Having just exited my deal at Columbia, I was a rogue artist, busting creativity, just waiting to put music in the marketplace, so while I’m sorting out my next situation, I’m blessed enough to be able to control my destiny and put music out as quickly as I want to, and was able to release a Tip album, which I had wanted to do for a long time."
No word yet as for what he’s going to do for his next album The Dime Trap, but maybe that’s what’s causing the delay? Look for The Dime Trap to drop before the year’s end (hopefully).
